Kimberly's Story
Life
Larry and I have been married for 27 years. He is a teacher in the Newport News School System. Larry played football at Va Tech back in his college days, so we are avid VT fans.

My Pets
We own a britney spaniel named Minnie.
My Kids
My oldest daughter,Hannah Joy, 26, is a deep thinker & quiet. She has a beautiful lyrical soprano voice and plays the guitar.
Lydia Faith, is 23 and lives life wide open. She is sweet and a people magnet. (I often say she is is my alter ego...not afraid to try anything)
Jonathan Howard is our youngest and is 17. He has grown into a handsome, talented and funny young man.
He composes music and plays the guitar. He is into surfing and playing music.
My Job
My family has been my primary job through the years. All of my children have struggled with some form of learning disability through their school years. Most of my time and energy has been spent advocating for them and helping them navigate the challenges of school and life.
I also work at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Nu...Expand for more
rsing Administration.
College
Began my nursing education at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK. I returned home after one year at ORU to help out my Mom who was caring for my ill father. I enrolled in a nursing program near home (Riverside/CNU). Met my future husband, Larry Capps, at a church singles retreat.
Workplace
I have held many different types of nursing positions: ICU staff nurse, NICU staff nurse, Labor and Delivery staff nurse, Home Health Nurse, Patient Educator, High Risk OB Nurse, Lactation Consultant, Nurse Manager and Nursing Supervisor. Nursing has provided me with a career that has been exciting and challenging as well as fulfilling my desire to help others.
Favorite Teachers
I had so many wonderful teachers that it would be difficult to narrow it down to one. The ones that I would have to say had the greatest impact were Ms.Riley in 9th grade World History, Ms. Williams -8th and 9th grade music, All of my English teachers at WHS: After taking AP English with Ms. Holman, English Composition in college was a piece of cake.
